All mail files are set to open to the in-box...not the all documents. Additionally, I will try adding the .ini settings and get you more specific data, but I think you're earlier point about opening with the preview pane is where the trouble lies. It is faster opening without that, but that is going to be a major sticking point with our users, specifically the users we are forcing to migrate to Notes from Exchange due to an acquisition.
I really don't think people should be forced to open and close the preview pane, should they? I guess if we have to, we have to, but this is just another example of the grumblings that are getting louder and louder, you know?
Again, I will get you more specific data and I do appreciate your posts..as well as Ed Brill's. I'll reiterate...I'm a Notes professional and enthusiast, but truthfully we are taking an absolute beating from people that we acquire and most of it is because of the email client. Little do they realize that our entire infrastructure is based around that one same product, but really, they don't care. It's all about the notes client being much slower than their beloved exchange...and I'll admit it, the slowness is starting to get to me, too.
